Mesh atomizer coils are the latest thing I have tried in the RDA and RTA world.
For a long time now, the popular set up for max flavor and clouds, has been high watt mods, with rebuildable coil atomizers.
But I feel the future of that is changing geared towards mesh atomizer designs.
Technology and designs are evolving, and recently we were introduced to the Profile RDA by Wotofo.
The profile was the first mesh atomizer coil design to utilize wide clamp posts, and spring-loaded ceramic support at the center of the deck.
The wide clamp posts allows the use of traditional coils as well as the mesh. The ceramic support prevents the wick from sagging, insuring maximum coil contact with mesh.
The Profile caught on quick as the best mesh atomizer design, yet it wasn’t topping the charts in the RDA world, until the arrival of nexMESH, by OFRF.
nexMESH utilizes triple density weave, which reduces the size of the individual holes, in turn creating a more consistent vape with less spit back.
After the Profile RDA, emerged the Profile Unity RTA, a rebuildable mesh tank.
The Unity is great, but it wasn’t long till the Unity got shadowed by the improved design of the Kylin M, by VandyVape.
Now VandyVape also makes some decent mesh coils to give nexMESH a run for the money.
The mesh RDA and RTA designs are impressive, and don’t have a lot of room for improvement at this point.
For the future I think we will see more improved mesh coil designs, and mesh as becoming the most popular RDA and RTA design.
I don’t think that die hard coil builders are yet swayed towards mesh strips, but we shall see.
At first I was skeptical because the only available mesh coils where a lower ohms than I’m used to.
With standard coils I like to blast at 80 to 120 watts, and the mesh strips where rated 50 to 75 watts.
With regular coils, higher watts produces more heat and vapor, and is what I thought I enjoyed.
So I set off on my journey, and bought and built a Profile RDA.
What took me back was how easy the coil build was, and the response time of the nexMESH coils, they light up quick.
The wicking was a little tricky, so I watched a Youtube video and figured it out with ease. Just use three strips of cotton, two on top, one on bottom.
My first draw from a mesh coil was a different experience, that I have come to prefer. It was so smooth, I couldn’t feel the vapor in my mouth, until I exhaled a tasty cloud.
This surprised me, I’m used to feeling a bunch of heat, vapor and spitback in my mouth, mesh is a very different vape.
Mesh gives you such a smooth hit, it truly is remarkable and new to me.
It took me a few hours of chain vaping to get used to the invisible vapor in my mouth. But everytime I exhaled I was astonished at the amount, and flavor of vape.
After that, I was hooked, and now I only want to use mesh, and look forward to what comes out next in mesh rebuildable designs.
Vaping With Mesh Rebuildables.
Mesh are flat strips, and the best alternative to traditional coils. Rather than winding wires to create a coil, mesh strips simply clamp into place. This makes mesh strips extremely easy to replace, almost too easy.
As of now you have the options of temperature control, dual mesh, single mesh 0.1 – 0.2 ohms. You can buy pre cut strips or rolls of mesh. I love and use the OFRF and the VandyVape mesh brands.
The increased surface area of mesh gives your the most vape, flavor, and response time, that you will ever get from 50 to 80 watts.
I’ve gotten notes of flavor I’ve never tasted before outta my vape juice, and little to no spit back at all. The mesh lights up lightning fast, and almost perfectly even every time.
The mesh coils I have used seem to last forever. I am amazed by how long mesh strips last, with chain vaping daily. I have gotten several weeks, and several wic changes, out of one strip, and was still decent when I changed it.
I never get a burnt hit from my mesh strip atomizers, RDA or RTA. It’s so crazy, I can actually tell when the wic is getting dry before I ever get that nasty burnt hit. In turn this lets my wic live out it’s max lifespan. There is so much cotton I can never dry it out in one drag.
With the mesh RDA I have gotten no leaking or spitback, just delicious clouds. I use the Profile RDA on DOVPO squonk mod. I love the giant wad of cotton you can fit in this RDA. It just soaks up all that delicious juice and nothing gets by, no leaking at all.
With the mesh RTA I have had no leaking or spitback, just awesome flavor.
I use the Kylin M on a Jackaroo mod. This is the only RTA that I actually change the airflow other than full open. I use the airflow in three or four different positions depending on my juice flavor.
The Kylin M RTA is the best mesh design you could ask for, everything about it rocks!
When it comes to elevating your flavor experience then mesh strips deliver, especially the nexMESH brand with its triple density design. If you don’t like mesh strips then there is something wrong with you. On a regular RDA with a twisted coil build at 90 -120watts, it’s going to be very warm and not as smooth, and this disrupts the flavor, but with mesh all you get is flavor.
For me, being able to be satisfied blasting at 65 watts has changed the way I vape. I have switched mods to a single battery mod, because of the unneeded power. I have also lowered my nicotine level to 3 mg so I can vape more delicious flavors. I also have tried flavors I wouldn’t have tried before.
No more burnt hits, spitback, dirty atomizer, juice everywhere, coil clippings, burnt coils, issues, forget all that!
I have found no complaints with the mesh strips, other then the lack of ohm options, in the precut strips. You can get .4 ohms in mesh rolls, but I would like to see the same in precut. The temperature control mesh strips came out pretty fast, so I’m sure there will be lots more options in the near future.
I have no complaints about the Kylin M or the Profile RDA.
The Profile Unity RTA I did not like, due to the bottom airflow leaking, too many parts, seemed like a rushed design, and the larger tank extender piece is ridiculous.
All In all, I absolutely believe mesh is the coil of the future, for rebuildables, and you need to get on this mesh train!
Finally I would love to hear your thoughts, so feel free to share your views in the comments below.
