Getting Bigger Clouds
In order to get bigger clouds you need a device that is above 40 watts. In order to sub ohm you must get above 30 watts.
You want to get high amp rated batteries, 20 Amp or higher, along with a top quality brand. A top quality authentic battery will give you the most accurate ratings. Then top it off with coils rated below 0.5 ohms.
You want to use a max VG vape juice to handle the higher power. You will want to adjust the airflow on your atomizer all the way open.
Use a fast and forceful draw to get a bigger cloud, and this will help keep the coils cool at the same time.
The atomizer actually is the coils, and the coils really are the key to getting the most out of your awesome vape mods and high amp batteries.
Coils come in different material makeups for the use of temperature control. Most good moods these days have temperature control or TC, with the use of pure Nickel Wire. Vape Wire can also be found in different make ups and each one has a different heat threshold and lifespan. Here are some different wire types.
- Stainless Steel
- Ni-200 Pure Nickel
Dual coils are the popular standard for rebuildable atomizers, and can be found in tank designs as well. While Cart designs have improved significantly as well, and produce huge clouds yet the lifespan of the coils is yet to be desired. For me this is the best way to vape clouds.
Carts and RDAs both have multiple types of coil configurations. You can choose from one two up to eight or more I’m not even sure anymore it just keeps growing.
But for the most surface area mesh designs emerged, and now they have multiple mesh designs. Mesh can reach some high wattages and rip dense rich vape clouds.
To achieve the best or better vape clouds is now about the smart purchase and not the experienced builder.
What I mean is that times have changed and even a novice vapor can chuck vape clouds, and do it safely.
But with everything else my goal is to help you quit smoking cigarettes, and not just to be cool and blow fancy clouds.
Along with cigarettes being horrible for your health they are not so good on the wallet either. You want to be able to save money with vaping and you will, but a commitment must be made at the beginning. Ten items is all you would need to get started right away, even the beginning vaper:
- High Powered Mod, for power and headroom to light any coil configuration. $30-$199
- Dual Coil RDA/RTA, for build room, and to build lasting coils that rip to your liking. $15-$80
- High Amp Batteries, the goal is around 30 amps, and a quality brand name is a must. $7-$29
- Charger, with overcharge protection, and reverse polarity protection. $15-$60
- Premade Kanthal Coils, some clapton, alien, or twisted pair at 0.4 ohms or less. $1-$7
- Cotton to wick your coils, 100%. $3-$10
- Juice, A max VG 6mg nicotine e-liquid flavored to your liking is a good starting point. 60ml $5-$60
- Scissors, simply to cut your cotton.$1-$5
- Build Deck, a convenient way to build your coils and pre fire them. $10-$30
- Wire cutter, a small nose wire cutter for fine gauge wire. $3-$10
As you can see the initial price can vary significantly. Starter kits are a good way to combine some of these items and save money. Most RDAs come with tools to work on them with.
When vape mods were just starting to catch on, it was difficult to achieve the best vape clouds. Times were tough, high watt mods where hard to find, sketchy, and homemade. If you wanted to rip clouds you also had to build your own coils. You would need an ohmmeter and have to test your coils to be safe, and experiment to find the right configuration. Then you have to drip your own juice and carry a bottle around with you. It truly was a process, but times have changed fast, and vapers no longer have to build to the specifications of their mods to achieve big bad vape clouds.
These days regulated mods are intelligent, and the need for an ohmmeter can be left to the enthusiasts. A regulated mod can read your ohms, regulate the power and temperature, along with all the safety features. You can now buy premade coils and really cool tanks and leave the coil winding to the wind. Although dripping is still popular, squonk mods now allow you to carry your juice right inside the mod. You don’t have to be a technically experienced vaper with build knowledge, to vape the best clouds.
Sub Ohm Advantage
Sub ohm is referring to 0.5 ohms and lower, or less than 1 ohm. Ohms is the measurement for resistance, which can be described as the reduction in electric current flow. The more resistance you have, the more heat you will produce. So basically, with the lower voltages of vape devices, you need lower ohms to rip higher clouds.
When you decrease the ohms you increase the surface area, which aids in producing more vapor. Adding more of the same ohm, coils divides the ohms per coil and also increases the surface area. This is the advantage of sub ohm vaping as you get desired heat mixed with more surface area to produce large tasty vape.
Aside from enormous clouds, you experience the extreme flavor unlike any other. You can can buy premade sub ohm tanks which are really good now days. You can also choose to trim premade coils, or make your own coils on an RDA/RTA.
High Power Mods
Even if you don’t plan on vaping at 200 watts, it’s good to have headroom no matter what level of vaper you are. With these higher powered, often multiple battery vape mod devices, you get higher quality chipsets. These higher quality chipsets maximize battery efficiency and safety features alike. So typically when you purchase a high powered vape mod your getting a better quality design structurally and internally.
It really seems like they spend more time on the design, and aren’t as flawed as the lower powered, almost spit out of a machine mod. You might pay more but you get more with high powered mods.
I don’t see anything wrong with even a beginner going straight to a 150 or 200 watt mod, they are easy to use and understand, and almost no experience necessary. Plus you can buy lots of starter kits that are ready to fire that will knock your socks off.
For me personally I like the bigger vape clouds for the intense flavor and buzz, but for some it’s the size and shape that matters. Cloud chasing has become an actual sport like event, with vape cloud size as a stage in the event mixed with tricks and other vape related things.
Cloud competitions are held around the world with quality prizes just like any other competition. Ranging from thousands of dollars to sponsorships and gear. Can you actually vape for a living?
The Public Sucks
The vape hating public aren’t keen on giant clouds of vapor in their face or near them. Aside from the annoyance, which I can understand, there is also the “fear of the unknown” element, that will last for a while, referring to second hand vape and its effects. Yet despite the studies from the world’s top scientist concluding it’s 95% safer than cigarette smoking, vaping is still treated, banned, and looked down onto like cigarettes. This baffles me, and leads me to my point that, vaping is a harm reduction.
Vaping is an absolutely successful alternative to cigarette smoking and should be rewarded as being a harm reducer for those who suffer from this addiction. Cloud chasing can be a hobby for some but has kept me off cigarettes for three years now, after smoking for twenty. I do not advise people who aren’t addicted to cigarettes to start vaping, unless its medicinal or CBD related.
